How much of my booking amount goes to the site partner?

We believe in ploughing back into the communities that host you. Over 80% of the cost borne by you goes directly back to the site partner of your choice. As part of our services to advance sustainability, we continue to invest in pro-bono consulting at our cost with these communities to improve their environmental impact and your experience. We are proudly NOT just a hosting aggregator. Our purpose and WIN lie in advancing true and measured regenerative travel for you and with our site communities.

How is sustainability measured at Amakarro?

We use our Amakarro Sustainability Quotient (ASQ) to measure the environmental, social and economic aspects of our site partners. The ASQ methodology is a quantitative scale of over 40 data points, and considers important criteria from the GSTC as well. The data points are classified into 5 key impact areas that are visible to you when you browse our properties.

How do I experience the impact of my travel decision?

Our Traveller standards provide some guidelines on how you can positively impact the environment and the community around you while garnering some great experiences. By booking with our site partners, you help them meet their economic threshold without walking back on the essence of their culture. Additionally, by encouraging sustainable ways of living, we can create a virtuous cycle of preserving the good and promoting regenerative travel choices. What is Responsible Tourism?

Responsible Tourism is about “making better places for people to live in and better places for people to visit.” It requires that operators, hoteliers, governments, local people and tourists take responsibility, take action to make tourism more sustainable.

Some aspects of Responsible Tourism per the Cape Town Declaration(2002) are:

  • minimizes negative social, economic and environmental impacts.
  • generates greater economic benefits for local people and enhances the well-being of host communities.
  • involves local people in decisions that affect their lives and life chances.
  • makes positive contributions to the conservation of natural and cultural heritage embracing diversity.
  • provides more enjoyable experiences for tourists through more meaningful connections with local people, and a greater understanding of local cultural, social and environmental issues.

Do I need travel insurance when I book a trip with Amakarro?

It is always prudent to have travel insurance for unforeseen expenses. We are a young company but have the ambition to offer insurance over time and improve your experience with us. Till then, we encourage you to make safe choices with the right insurance plan that works for you.

What are the terms and conditions when I book travel with Amakarro?

What will happen after I sign up?

Here is how it works:

  • You sign up for an account and create your listing. Our team will work with you to highlight your property features and share just how unique you are!
  • You can update your amenities and prices at any time, and confirm that your listing is accurate.
  • When you are ready, your property will be verified and published! You are now ready to receive bookings!
  • Our team will be with you through this process for any questions.

When will my property go online?

Once you finish creating your listing, our admin team will verify your information and publish your property.This will make it visible on our website and available for booking. Note : Properties are published online only after their ASQ assessment is completed.

How do I find out how much commission I will pay for bookings?

We collect a commission from each booking to support our activities. The commission percentage will be discussed and mentioned in your Contract document.The invoice for commission will be sent to you as per the payment schedule mentioned in the contract.

Do I have to confirm all my bookings?

Booking Confirmation process depends on your preference. When a customer books a stay at your property, it is instantly confirmed online if you have opted for “Rapid Booking “option. This gives you the convenience of not having to check every request from every potential guest. If you have opted for the “Booking Request “option , then you will have the option of confirming each booking.
